Life Time Tri Soma is excited to announce the return of the Quarterman and addition of the new Double Double relay.
Not all athletes get excited about taking on a late season 1/2 Iron distance event. For those of you looking to join in the fun at Life Time Tri Soma, but looking for a short course event, we are bringing back the Quarterman. The Quarterman will feature standard International distance swim, bike and run legs as well as relays. Course maps, along with an updated event schedule, will be available soon.
Standard Soma 1/2 Iron and Quarterman relays
Relay teams consist of two or three members. For two-person teams, one team member must complete two of the legs (either the swim and the bike, the swim and the run, or the swim and the run). For three-person teams, each person does one leg. We’ve seen some great team names and costumes so feel free to be creative!
The Double Double relay
This is where things get interesting, so hang on! In the Double Double teams of two, three, four, five or six athletes will complete 70.3 miles in six legs. The 1.2-mile, 1/2 Iron Distance swim, will be cut in half and teams will complete two .6-mile swim legs. The 56-mile, 1/2 Iron distance bike, will be cut in half and teams will complete two 28-mile bike course legs. The challenging 13.1-mile run that takes athletes from the bike to the finish line just became way more achievable – because we also cut it in half by creating two 6.5-mile loops that will conclude the Double Double relay. That makes five transitions and six legs total making the Double Double one of the most exciting and attainable 1/2 Iron distance races you’ll ever see. If 70.3 is still on your “to do” list make the Double Double your introduction to the 1/2 Iron distance.
